THE HIDDEN REASON WHY THOSE SEEMINGLY MINOR INJURIES DEVELOP INTO HUGE PROBLEMS …OFTEN YEARS LATER! TAKE ACTION NOW TO AVOID THE PAIN, MISERY AND LIMITATIONS OF ARTHRITIS!

The Impact of Soft Tissue Injuries on Arthritis Development

Injuries can happen to anyone, and while some may seem minor and insignificant at the time, they can have long-lasting effects on our bodies. One area where this is particularly true is with soft tissue injuries to the spine and joints. These injuries, although not as noticeable as fractures, can lead to significant problems, such as arthritis, years or even decades later.

When we injure the soft tissues of our body, such as muscles, ligaments, and tendons, they go through a healing process. However, this healing process doesn’t always result in a complete recovery. In many cases, the injured area may not heal properly, leading to structural imbalances.

REAL LIFE EXAMPLE

Let me tell you about a few recent new patients that came to me for care:

Example #1

A woman in her late fifties came to me with pain in her right hip. She had been to her primary care physician who told her it was hip arthritis. That doctor sent her to an orthopedic surgeon who told her the only thing he could offer was a steroid injection into her hip. The surgeon ordered an MRI of her hip that didn’t show any arthritis.

No seeing the long term wisdom of a steroid injection she came to my office. My examination showed some weakness in her right foot and ankle that was coming from her lower back. Here’s where her history came up. Like most of us she’d been involved in a number of traumas ranging from falls to car accidents.

X-rays of her lower back showed degenerative arthritis in her lower lumbar spine, the long term consequence of chronic stress and imbalance. Chiropractic care can’t reverse that arthritis but it can help bring her back into balance.

The Result: She had been experiencing severe hip pain for 4 months before seeing me. Within a week she was experiencing significant relief. And, after a month her pain is often absent and mild when it does show up.

STRUCTURAL IMBALANCES CAUSE BREAKDOWN

These structural imbalances cause the body to adapt and compensate. For example, if we injure our knee, we may start favoring the other leg, putting uneven stress on our joints. Over time, this uneven stress can accelerate wear and tear on the joints and result in degenerative arthritis or osteoarthritis.

What makes this situation particularly tricky is that even if the initial pain from the injury resolves quickly, the underlying imbalances can continue to affect the body. This means that years or even decades later, we may start experiencing symptoms of arthritis that seem to have come out of nowhere.

RESTORE THE BODY TO BALANCE

So, what can we do to prevent or minimize the potential long-term effects of soft tissue injuries on arthritis? This is where corrective chiropractic care comes in.
