REDUCING STRESS IS A LOST CAUSE! DISCOVER WHY THE KEY TO TRANSFORMING YOUR CHRONIC PAIN INTO VIBRANT HEALTH LIES MORE IN CONTROLLING HOW STRESS IMPACTS YOU

When you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, depressed or out of options, do you think about your circumstances and start asking yourself, “How can I reduce my stress?”

HOW CORRECTIVE CHIROPRACTIC IMPACTS STRESS

My practice of chiropractic is focused on stress, but not in helping people mitigate it. I help people understand  that attempting to reduce stress is a failed strategy with the real key being how we handle stress. Using a unique combination of corrective chiropractic care, gentle spinal practices, activation of the postural stress muscles, and balancing of the autonomic nervous system, the  people I work with are able to rewire how their nervous system responds to stress. The result is they become resilient, and they no longer react to the majority of stressors in the process.

It has been determined that over 90% of illness and disease is stress related. Think of stress like this:

STRESS IS HERE TO STAY AND IT’S GROWING

Stress isn’t going anywhere. In fact it is only increasing at an ever faster pace. The changes in our modern world have outstripped the nervous system’s ability to keep up.  A common analogy to create an image of stress  is to think of stress as a bunch of leaky faucets filling up a bucket. These drips into the bucket  include finances, health, work, relationships, house problems, parenting concerns, politics…..as well as prolonged sitting, poor diet, alcohol, artificial light… in other words an endless list of things can cause us stress.

When the bucket gets full and the cumulative effect of all  these stressors overflowing our capacity to process them, we have a threshold where we begin to experience worsening symptoms. It might be poor sleep or fatigue or frequent illness or headaches or neck or back pain or anxiety or just about anything.

STOP COVERING UP THE SYMPTOMS

It is at this point that  we have lost the bandwidth in our nervous system to appropriately respond to the stress. Our culture and medical system has taught us to cover up the symptoms which does nothing to stop the process.

If your stress bucket is overflowing, and you haven’t had your nervous system relieved of that stored tension and irritation and you do not have the tools to self-regulate your state and return to a place of rest, recovery, and ease, you will become an ever greater victim of the impact of stress on your body’s ability to recover and heal.

As this progresses, things you could usually handle with ease are colored by dysregulation, and even the mundane becomes a challenge. Rather than cover up the symptoms doesn’t it make more sense to learn how to self-regulate your own system and transform how your nervous system responds to the challenges of life?

In this analogy of stress as water dripping into the bucket, let’s think of it like a river that is always flowing. Sometimes the flow is fast, sometimes it’s slow. But, its always flowing. There is no stopping stress.  We might try to control it, but that only works for a short time and does nothing to resolve the impact of stress on you.

How would your experience of stress change if you could program and regulate your inner response to the daily drips of stress?  This is what I call resilience. You can’t significantly alter the flow of stress but you can dramatically change how it impacts you.

LIFE CHIROPRACTIC OF GRASS VALLEY

Life Chiropractic Grass Valley offers a unique approach to dealing with chronic stress. Instead of focusing on reducing stressors, they help clients learn how to handle stress more effectively. The focus is on:

  • Removing nervous system interference to the Autonomic Nervous System with Corrective Chiropractic Care. Different areas of the spine have an impact on either the Sympathetic “fight or flight” System or the Vagus Nerve of the Parasympathetic System.
  • Building balance into the system by activating the Posterior Chain of postural anti-stress muscles.
  • Maintaining healthy coupled motion of the small joints of the spine with Spinal Joint Flossing.
  • Retraining the Stress Response by increasing the activity and tone of the Vagus Nerve.

Life Chiropractic Grass Valley’s approach is focused on understanding your own physiology and transforming reactivity into resources. By connecting to the power of your mind and body, you can increase your capacity to handle stress and become more masterful over your experience. Through daily practice and learning to be agile and resourceful, you can build a bigger bucket to hold your stress.
