Life Chiropractic Excelled Where Lesser Chiropractors and Physical Therapists Fail
There are far too many failure stories for every success story out there.
When I first started in chiropractic, I got plenty of messages about the permanence of chronic back pain, neck pain, and other conditions.
If I heard something like that, I would want to give up, but I was motivated because I was one of those people who had experienced significant injuries and was searching for a solution.
How can you avoid feeling discouraged when people try to tell you that your condition is likely permanent?
Take some motivation out of this quote because as the saying goes:
“Some people cannot be cured but everyone can heal.”
Mary : Success Story
Mary has been an incredibly active adult. As a woman in her fifties she’s active every weekend. But, her chronic hip pain took its toll:
- She had to give up running because it was too painful and she paid for it for days after.
- She found herself in pain every day all day. Her job requires her to sit and that only aggravated her pain.
- Her primary care physician and an orthopedic surgeon both told her it was hip arthritis and the only treatment until it got bad enough for a hip replacement was an injection into her hip.
Mary wasn’t satisfied with those prospects so she did her research and scheduled an exam at Life Chiropractic in Grass Valley.
Because our focus is on identifying the causes of pain and not just the location, we found more involvement in her lower lumbar spine in addition to the hip. We laid out a course of care that consisted primarily of:
- Corrective adjustments to L4 and L5 (as well as other areas of her spine)
- Adjustments to the hip
- Muscle release exercises for the hip
- Posterior Chain Activation to stabilize the hips, pelvis, and spine
Results: Mary has little to no pain. She had suffered with this pain for years. She has the tools to keep her hips, pelvis, and lumbar spine balanced. She has returned to running which she had not been able to do for 10 years.
Life Chiropractic of Grass Valley
Like any successful chiropractor, Dr. Bill Berkowitz of Life Chiropractic in Grass Valley, CA does things a little differently from the status quo.
There are many reasons that Dr. Berkowitz has had the success he’s have had, and more than a few of those factors can be attributed to the fact that his initial motivation was to find a system that would enable him to function
You can learn from Dr. Berkowitz’s approach to stabilizing and correcting long term chronic problems like:
- Neck Pain and Headaches
- Low Back Pain and Sciatica
- Arm pain and numbness
- Anxiety
Instead of limiting his approach to one thing like most chiropractors and physical therapists Dr. Berkowitz likes to address all the components essential to have the greatest chance of success in addressing chronic pain.
This is made possible by the Corrective Rebalancing Program.
This program addresses the key structural, muscular, and neurological factors involved in chronic pain.
Why Does the Corrective Rebalancing Program Work So Well?
In contrast to traditional Chiropractic or Physical Therapy, this works well for people suffering with chronic neck and back pain because:
- Balance: It focuses on restoring balance to the structure of the body. All chronic pain is accompanied by imbalance.
- Spinal Facet Joints: It helps restore and maintain function of the critical facet joints involved in most pain syndromes.
- Posture and Support: It teaches you how to activate the critical posterior chain.
- Neurology: It shows you how to restore balance to the Autonomic Nervous System by activating the Vagus Nerve
How Can You Apply This to Your Own Life?
“Good for them,” I can hear you thinking loudly, “But the Corrective Rebalancing Program can never work for me and my long standing chronic permanent pain caused by arthritis.”
Chances are that if you’ve kept reading till here, you do have a clue that this technique is intriguing and might hold the promise you’ve been looking for.
Here’s how you can apply this approach to your own chronic pain.
- First, you need to find a practitioner well schooled in structural correction and balance.
- Next, make sure that their approach is personalized to each person and covers other significant areas to be addressed: posterior chain, supportive practices
- The more stress you have been under the more you will need help in balancing your autonomic nervous system.
This isn’t easy and realistically you might have to rely on multiple practitioners to support you through this.
Other Important Learning Points
Dr. Berkowitz hasn’t necessarily re-invented the wheel of chiropractic, but what he has done is bring together all the complementary factors necessary for long term success with chronic pain.
Out of his own experiences and frustrations he explored a number of different approaches and sought care from a number of chiropractors. He tracked what worked best for himself and his clients, keeping only those strategies that consistently produced results that were predictable, repeatable, and measurable.
Here are the key components of the Corrective Rebalancing Program for chronic pain:
- Corrective Chiropractic: restores structural balance, alignment, and motion of the pelvis and spine. This is a significant advancement of traditional chiropractic.
- Spinal Joint Flossing: once that motion is restored we want to maintain it long enough that it becomes the default pattern. Added to this is restoration of what is called couple motion.
- Posterior Chain Activation: modern life, injuries, and pain causes inhibition of the posterior chain muscles so critical for great posture and movement.
- Vagus Nerve Activation: chronic pain and stress causes an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system that requires balancing.
Quick Recap
Remember, all of the components of this program have been tried and tested out in the real chronic neck and back pain world.
After all, there’s little room for theories that have no real-world application.
When I first applied most of these strategies, I wasn’t prepared for the results.
To my huge surprise I have witnessed people with long standing pain experience significant pain reduction where nothing had helped before.
I assumed it was luck with the first few patients, but every time I used the Corrective Rebalancing Approach, I got the same result.
