Grass Valley and Nevada City Chiropractor – Life Chiropractic Grass Valley: Where It All Began

I’m a firm believer that you should know and trust whoever you do business with. This holds especially true for any health care professional you trust your body and your health with. So, I thought I’d give you a sense of my story and who I am.

My Story With Chiropractic

Back in high school I was driving my car around a bend in the road when another car from the opposite direction cut across my lane to make a turn, causing a head on collision. Being 18 I didn’t appreciate the value of seat belts and had disconnected the alarm under the seat so that I could drive without a belt.

In the collision my head hit and broke the windshield. I got an ambulance ride to the hospital and some 30 stitches in my forehead. Nobody warned me about my injuries or recommended any other treatment.

I went off to college and about 6 months later my world started to fall apart. I had difficulty sitting through a class. My lower back was painful, along with my mid back, neck and headaches. I wasn’t sleeping well and I couldn’t concentrate.

On a visit home my mother told me about her friend’s chiropractor and asked if I wanted to go. My first question was what a chiropractor was. I had never heard of chiropractic and had no idea what it was, how it worked, and why someone would see a chiropractor.

Chiropractic Changed My Life

From that very first visit my life started to change. The chiropractor took x-rays and explained what was going on. After my first adjustment I experienced the sensation of stress leaving my body. Over the course of the next six months I got my life back.

As I experienced more and more chiropractic I began to get curious about what would be involved in becoming a chiropractor. The idea of studying hard science scared me but the fear was overshadowed by the appeal of the philosophy and application of chiropractic.

From East Coast to West Coast

I studied chiropractic in Portland, OR at Western States Chiropractic College, founded by the man who discovered chiropractic. After graduating I headed back east to Massachusetts to practice. After practicing in MA and RI for 18 years my family and I moved to California and settled on the central coast.

Eventually I discovered this beautiful area of Nevada County. I came up here frequently from Santa Cruz and was drawn to the beauty, nature, space, and people here.

Life Chiropractic

When I moved up here I opened up a small office in Nevada City. In the summer of 2022 a young chiropractic couple made the decision to move from here to Alaska so I merged my practice into theirs. I’ve had large offices and practices in the past with as many as 6 employees. My decision to go solo with no employees in a small office was intentional.

I’m a much better chiropractor than I am a manager of people so working by myself works well. Without a large staff and office I’m able to keep my fees low and affordable.

My Philosophy

Most people really don’t understand what chiropractic does and the best way to use it. You have plenty of choices when it comes to chiropractors in Grass Valley and Nevada City. I encourage you to get clear on what you are looking for and do your best to find a chiropractor that matches your needs.

The focus of my chiropractic care is on returning someone to balance and correcting the underlying causes of nerve interference. It makes much more sense to me to correct the source of a problem rather than apply a very short term fix that typically causes more severe problems down the road.

The body is self-healing and when we are able to return a person to balance and remove nerve interference the body is able to do what it does best, heal.

If you are experiencing neck or back pain, headaches, low energy, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, or any other chronic issue that is robbing you of your health consider the natural approach of chiropractic.
