There are those moments when low back pain or a lower back injury can make us feel downright vulnerable.
For example…
You’re at a family barbecue, playing a casual game of catch with the kids. You bend to scoop up the ball, and as you rise, your lower stops you dead in your tracks and screams in agony. You mask the pain with a smile, and do your best to continue but already you’re preparing for a night of agony.
Or
You’re in a yoga class, attempting a pose you used to be able to do in your sleep. Your lower back locks up, and you almost topple over, wondering how you are going to get up, never mind finish the class. While everyone else flows seamlessly into the next pose, you’re left struggling, questioning why your body is betraying you.
Or
You’re at the gym and eye the squat rack, knowing your lower won’t tolerate the load. Your frustration rises as you watch others effortlessly lift, wondering why your body won’t cooperate. The leg press offers no relief, the weight causing your lower back to tighten up or threaten to give out. Tears of shame well up as you see a shadow of your former vibrant self in the mirror, and try to ignore the stares of pity and concern.
I could go on, but you get the idea. We could chalk it off to aging but that isn’t the answer and it doesn’t help you anyway.
Until you correct the imbalances causing this problem you will not achieve meaningful long term pain relief, and you’ll be forever left wondering if you’ll ever get to enjoy these simple pleasures again, much less engage in your normally active or athletic lifestyle like before.
I’ve been there; it’s like being in emotional quicksand.
You’re Not Imagining Things
Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) is Both Physically AND Emotionally Draining…I know, because I lived it (and more)!
Anyone who’s lived with CLBP knows it isn’t just a mechanical issue; it’s an emotional hijacker. One moment you’re hopeful, thinking you’ve got this, and the next, you’re gripped by despair, wondering if you’ll ever sit, walk, or even sleep without pain again.
Why is this your wake-up call?
Imagine a life where your hip doesn’t dictate your every move or mood. Imagine reclaiming the activities that bring you joy without a second thought to pain. Is it really possible?
Let’s Unpack The Problems & Solutions:
PROBLEM #1: The Domino Effect: FAI often leads to other issues like poor posture and muscle imbalances. My history of trauma led to recurring back pain, knee pain and sciatica. But, there is a way out of this domino effect…
PROBLEM #2: The Mind Game: Chronic low back pain messes with your head. But most rehab approaches don’t address this. But, our 1:1 approach to chronic low back pain doesn’t ONLY tackle the mechanical factors, it also helps to restore muscle balance and function.
SOLUTION #1: Knowledge = Power: Education gives you a sense of power. On my journey, I learned how to make my posterior chain stronger and more functional. So strong and active that even if my lumbar arthritis kicks up I can keep in check and not miss any activity.
SOLUTION #2: The Power of Possibility: If one person can do it, so can you! And the cool thing is, not just one person has healed their hips without surgery…thousands have done it!
The bottom-line is…with a little knowledge, and following in the footsteps of others who have walked this path – you’re no longer a victim; you’re the hero of your story.
