I am going to lay out the 4 components of the Life Chiropractic “Corrective Rebalancing Program” that consists of the four most critical strategies that need to be addressed to impact chronic pain. This is based on my more than 35 years of practice and my own experience with chronic pain from significant trauma.
#1: Corrective Chiropractic Care
Have you ever been to a chiropractor? If so it’s likely it was traditional chiropractic that can be very effective in offering you short term pain relief. It does not effectively correct the underlying cause of the pain.
Corrective Chiropractic goes further than traditional chiropractic. It focuses on:
- Restoring balance to the spine and pelvis. Every chronic pain problem is caused or aggravated by imbalance.
- Restoring alignment to the pelvis and spine. Without alignment the imbalances cause persistent stress, irritation, and inflammation to the joints, muscles, and nerves.
- Restoring proper motion to the pelvis and facet joints of the spine. These joints are a common cause of the pain.
#2: Spinal Joint Flossing
One of my favorite strategies is spinal joint flossing, and I find it helps me maintain healthy joint motion and lubrication.
You’ve probably never heard of spinal joint flossing before as it’s my most recent development, but it is as powerful as it is simple.
The body is great at developing patterns. This helps us when we do something repetitively or are learning something. It’s how we all learned how to ride a bike.
The body also develops holding patterns with chronic pain. In order to overcome the chronic pain we must replace the pain perpetuating pattern with a new pattern.
Spinal Joint Flossing helps on a day to day basis to reinforce health motion in the joints of the spine. This helps maintain motion and a healthy lubrication of the facets joints of the spine.
#3: Posterior Chain Activation
When you’re stuck in a cycle of chronic pain, your movements and activities often shift to accommodate the pain. Even if you don’t change drastically, modern life has increased the amount of time we spend sitting.
The impact of this is an inhibition and weakening of the muscles responsible for our posture and helping us move through our day without pain. This is especially true for mid to lower back pain, hip pain, and sciatica.
These muscles are called the Posterior Chain.
When I’m working with someone the first step is restoring balance. Then the focus is on alignment.
At this point I implement a series of simple exercises that effectively activate the posterior chain. This reduces pain, improves posture, and releases stress.

#4: Vagus Nerve
Vagus Nerve stimulation is all the buzz these days and for good reason.
However, most of what is out there is a crutch that activates your vagus nerve but doesn’t change anything.
I believe in empowering people to take back control of their health. This is why I teach people how to activate their Vagus Nerve and restore balance to the autonomic nervous system.
When you read that over 90% of all illnesses are stress related, it’s because of an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system. Chronic pain is accompanied by lowered vagus nerve activity and increased activity of the sympathetic “fight or flight” system.
By activating the Vagus Nerve there is a range of benefits including:
- Reduced muscle tension and pain
- Reduced inflammation
- Lowered heart rate
- Improved sleep
- Better digestion
- Better immune response
Key Takeaways
I hope this post has given you a roadmap for how to approach treating your chronic pain condition. I’ve laid out my 4 strategy approach. What I want to emphasize is that chronic pain is unlikely to be dramatically improved or resolved using a single approach.
